I am a Principal Counselling Psychologist and accredited Interpersonal Psychotherapist (IPT). I have been qualified for over 14 years and currently work within Adult Community Mental Health Services (ACMHS) in the National Health Service (NHS). Prior to this, I worked within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) for several years. I continue to see a small number of clients from CAMHS as I offer Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) to this client group.
Since qualifying as a Counselling Psychologist, I have pursued further training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassionate-Focused Therapy (CFT), Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
I have experience in working with a range of difficulties, including depression, mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, grief, interpersonal and relationship difficulties, amongst many others.
I work in an integrative way to suit the needs of each client, making the therapy personal to them. I believe the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important elements in therapy, and I am here to listen, and to try and make sense of what has happened to someone within their life in a safe and supportive way. By understanding this together, we can find ways to help the client to feel more empowered and skilled within their everyday life.
