Clinical Supervision in Hertfordshire

Clinical Supervision

Dr Maria Tucknott making notes during clinical supervision session

Supervision is a key part of maintaining the quality of client care and ensuring the integrity of the services you provide. As a Clinical Psychologist with over 11 years of experience supervising both qualified and trainee therapists, I offer a safe, thoughtful, and compassionate space for you to reflect, learn, and grow.

Whether you're looking to deepen your clinical skills, explore complex client presentations, or simply take a breath and find perspective, supervision with me can offer you the clarity and containment you need.

I’m a warm, open, and reflective supervisor with a particular interest in EMDR (I’m an EMDR Consultant in Training), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These approaches often influence our conversations — but the supervision space is yours, and the focus is always on what feels most helpful to you.

I’ve worked extensively with complex cases and understand the emotional weight that this work can carry. Supervision with me isn’t just about technique — it’s about how you are doing as a human being holding space for others.

What to Expect

Supervision with me is bespoke. At the start of our work together, we’ll talk about what you’re hoping to get from the process, and we’ll shape sessions around that. You might be:

- Looking for clarity with a complex case
- Wanting to deepen your skills in a particular therapy model
- Reflect on the impact of your work
- Feeling stuck or uncertain in your clinical work
- Navigating the realities of private practice, from boundaries to burnout.

When we’re sitting in the therapy chair, so close to the emotions in the room, it can be hard to see the full picture. In supervision, we take a step back together. We zoom out, slow down, and make sense of what’s going on — so you can return to your client work feeling steadier, clearer, and more confident.

EMDR Supervision

If you're looking to deepen your EMDR practice, I will be happy to support you. I'm currently an EMDR Consultant-in-Training (CiT), working towards full accreditation. While I bring a great deal of experience and passion to this work, it's important to note that supervision with me at this stage won’t count towards your own EMDR accreditation requirements.
